13ton: Imagery Explained

Getting a portrait is a way to make a memory you can hold. There is a big difference between digital files on a phone and the permanence of a real, physical product. A beautiful print or a photo album lasts. It's not just a picture; it becomes a family treasure. It shows you care about preserving your memories.

A Lasting Memory
Using Light: How We Shape Your Portrait
Light is the most important tool we use. In our work, we control and shape light very carefully. Nothing is left to chance. We use different types of light:
  • Natural Light is used and shaped to look beautiful and real.
  • Special Flashes are used to add drama and make you stand out from the background. This makes the photo look special, not like a quick snapshot.
  • Full Studio Lights (like umbrellas, backdrops, and props) are used to build the perfect scene. This creates a powerful image with beautiful shadows and highlights.

Posing and Preparing
Posing and Details
The final photo is a team effort. We will help guide you on how to pose, turning a simple moment into a lasting memory.
Your friends and family already love you as you are. They won't be looking for flaws. They're just happy to have a memory of you.
That said, high definition cameras will see every detail. These simple tips can help you feel more confident in your shoot:
  • Make sure clothing is clean and ironed. This makes a big difference.
  • Avoid small, tight patterns on clothes. They can look strange in a photo.
  • If you shave, do it a few hours before the shoot, not right before. This prevents redness.
  • Haircuts often look best after a week, but you may prefer the fresh-cut look. It's up to you.
We fix small, temporary things like blemishes and pimples, some limited smoothing skin and evening out complexions. Big changes (like changing a shirt or removing braces) may be complex and cost extra. We work hard to get the photo right in the camera to avoid these extra costs, and you can help keep costs lower by arriving prepared. Type something

Come Rested

Please try to get a good night's sleep before your session. When you are rested, you feel more calm and present. This is not about looking perfect; it is about feeling comfortable and ready.

Choose Your Clothing Carefully

What you wear helps shape the final image. We want the focus to be on you.
  • Be comfortable: Choose clothes that feel like you and fit well.
  • Keep it simple: Solid colors are best. Avoid busy patterns, large logos, or bright, distracting colors.
  • Think timeless: We are creating an image that will last. Simple, classic clothing helps this.

Be Well-Groomed

Please arrive with your hair styled as you like it and with any grooming (like shaving) already done. We use very precise light to see your features. A clean, simple starting point helps the light do its work.

Trust the Process

You do not need to "perform." There is no need to practice posing or hold a fake smile.
My job is to observe and handle all the details of light and shadow. Your only job is to be yourself. Relax, be present, and trust me to create a clear and true image.
You are investing in a lasting memory. Following these simple steps helps us work together to create it.
